Espresso Book Machine: The Revolution Begins

Thanks to the innovation of our distributor, Lightning Source, Inc., all of Bad Girls Publishing's titles will be available for printing where the Espresso Book Machine (EBM) is located. For those of you unfamiliar with the EBM, this technology works somewhat like a vending machine in that it prints, binds, and trims print-on-demand titles on site. Go here for a list of current locations: http://www.ondemandbooks.com/our_ebm_locations.htm.
Not so long ago or so far away, a lovely and farsighted man named Jason Epstein announced in his non-fiction work Book Business that this book vending technology would revolutionize the publishing business. In a recent speech he stated,
"The ATM for books that I envisioned ten years ago is today’s Espresso Book Machine whose latest iteration is here on display. Together with a high speed duplex printer this compact version 2.0 which, when its design is completed, will accommodate books of as many as 800 pages and can produce a 320 page, library quality paperback of any size between 4 x 4 and 8.5 x 11 identical to the factory made original in seven minutes for about a penny a page for consumables. The eventual cost of the machine will be no more than an office copier. The Espresso machine eliminates completely the Gutenberg supply chain by delivering a finished book from a selected digital file to the end user with no intervening steps: no inventory, no warehouse, no delivery cost, no spoilage and no returns." As the quantity of books published in the traditional manner generally exceeds demand, the unsold portion of these titles becomes a warehousing nightmare and, often times, is wastefully destroyed to cut that warehousing cost. The EBM will no doubt save countless habitats from being pillaged and plundered for paper making purposes. Clearly, Bad Girls Publishing is on board with this new technology. We like to think of ourselves as a wee bit innovative too.

"Daughter of Earth and Tree", Book II of the Dark Moon Trilogy, by Sherryl King-Wilds is under the revision scalpel and should be published in either fall or winter 2009. We apologize it is not out on schedule now. Also, Jonathan Stillwater is working diligently on his thrill-ride of a horror novel, "Graveyard Springs."

Mr. Stillwater is feeling a little under the weather, so I am his substitute blogger for the time being.
First off, I am sorry for not yet updating the Bad Girls website. I am attempting to revamp our E-Bookstore section with a shopping cart, which is proving disquieting. There just is not time enough per day to learn it all, or so it seems.
Second up, we are thinking about incorporating Bad Girls Publishing as an LLC and accepting submissions, but only when we get the funding. No more cooperative after that.
Third and last, have a great holiday season.
Wishing you and yours well,
Sherryl King-Wilds

A delay in the web site update occurred. We apologize. One month down the road should do the trick.
